Manens are a specific type of breed created by Vickie, feel free to download the files from VPZ Research Center. There are Wolves and Lynxes. You can read all about them on this site stored on the wayback machine. I will include the information bellow as well.
Story"Species that are now dwindling were once abundant on Earth. Species and relatives of wolves and lynxes could be found on five continents, where they lived freely and wihout conflict from any of their fellow creatures, including the small populations of primative humans. But with their civilization and conquering spirit, human population grew, and they could no longer share the land and resources. Wild felines and canines were labeled as pest, nuisances, even as dangerous to human life. They were trapped, hunted, or driven out; and many individuals, even species were lost never again to roam the earth...
However, natural, unspoiled places still exist on this planet. Sanctuaries free from human meddling, and places where intelligent and caring people have helped preserve fr the sake of nature and wildlife. In these places the wild creatures survived, and some became keenly aware of the dangers of man. Groups of wolves formed tribes united in a single cause, survival. They sought out more secretive places through turgid swamps, across harsh deserts, beyond the higest and most unforgiving mountains... It was a difficult jouney, and many gave up, others perished. During their wandering, physical changes started happening through the slow process of adaptation... Some wolves developed different coat types more suitable to the harsh terrain. Others were growing more deadly fangs or even horns to defend themselves against other creatures (and yes, even the occasional human). And some even developed wings. It became a very diverse group. Since all of the adaptations provided advantages as well as disadvantages, the wolves had to become even more able to work as a group and divided the labor among themselves. The winged wolves would carry the (always wingless) cubs up mountains, while the tougher and swifter wolves would scout the ground until they came to a safe place to develop their tribe, their society... And then the wolves encountered something quite unexpected... As they came to find out, bobcats and lynxes, normally territorial and solitary creatures, had also banded together to escape the devestation of mankind. They had developed similar physical traits and worked together to find sanctuary. (Once in a safe place, sometimes the lynxes resumed their solitary lives; other times they remained in their tribes...) Sometimes, these cats ended up in the same places as the wolves. Sometimes they fought. Both once in a while, the cats and wolves would join together as a community. The first lynx & wolf tribe to unite marked themselves and their offspring with an orange crescent moon on the hind leg. Other unions went through similar tatooing ceremonies. These were the origins of a continued tradition that some of the animals maintained of marking a new tight ally or friend of another species with a moon tatoo. Other animals consider the tradition archaic and do not participate in such ceremonies. These early tribes were established in Manen Woods, a place where the air is clear and clean, and the cool earth is bathed in moonlight. (Manen = Moon)" |
Jewls"Manen wolves and lynxes often adorn themselves with trinkets to display their accomplishments and communicate their desires to others. Not all of them like wearing jewelry, but some choose to wear an earring or a bracelet; and some wear a full set with dangling earrings, two bracelets, and a medallion.
The type of metal is used to display the animal's social nature and whether he or she is open to joining a tribe or more of a loner. Gold: Gold is worn by socialites. Gregarious animals who will make great sacrifices for the tribe. They live to help others and crave popularity and acknoledgement. Wearers of gold often seek leadership positions in a tribe and tribe leaders are almost always of the gold "type." Parents will sometimes give a cub a gold bracellet if they hope the cub will aspire to greatness. Many gold wearers join a defensive troup or army. Silver: Silver is worn by loners or animals who would like to remain somewhat mysterious and ellusive. Donning silver means they would like others to leave them alone or at least be aware of their introverted nature. These animals' motives usually revolve around self-fullfillment. They do not care what others think nor do they seek to impress anyone. Brass: Wearers of brass seek to have a few close relationships rather than being popular or well known. They usually are dedicated to their mates and families and don't like to be either in a crowd or alone. Brass wearers often have a small group of close friends that they hang out with all the time. Some small tribes are made entirely of closely related brass wearers. The color of gems worn displays a driving force in a wolf or lynx's personality. (Again, not all wolves like to dislay this and might not wear jewels at all.) Ruby: passion/romance Amethyst: spirituality/religion Sapphire: philosophy/daydreaming Emerald: learning/scholarship Turquoise: play/adventure Amber: guardian/protection Agate: art/creativity Garnet: friendship/charity Onyx: success/power Pearl: Peace/harmony" |
Wolves"Manen Wolves are usually very social and enjoy their own kind. They might accept other speces of wolves or wild dog as part of their tribe. Some will get along with domestic dogz, but keep in mind that Manen Wolves can be tough and some can even be vicious. Only larger and tougher breedz are recommended as companions.
The Manen Wolves come from several lines of wolves from different climates and regions, and are descended from a variety of wolf subspecies, possibly including domestic dogs. As a result, they are very diverse in terms of sizes, shapes, coats, and colors. Even albinos and bicolors (husky-like) have been seen. Here is a breakdown of the documented colors and varieties of Manen Wolf: ~Three sizes: The larger dogz seem to be more of the fighters and the smaller ones have speed and stealth. ~Two body lengths ~Three muzzle lengths ~Three leg lengths: The shorter dogs seem to be slower but tougher. ~Two tail types: Dominant dogz hold their tails high, while submissive ones keep theirs lowered. ~Two coat lengths: Heavier coated dogz are seen in more northern regions. ~Three coat textures: Possibly advantageous to different terrains. ~Missing Limbs? Possibly from rough terrain, fighting, or getting caught in traps. ~Wings: Somewhat rare occurence ~Horns: Possibly for use in fighting or hunting. ~Protruding teeth: From zero to four, displayed as a threat or warning. ~At least 35 known coat color variations. ~Ten known eye colors; and odd eyes are not uncommon. ~A variety of "adornments" (see Jewels)" |
Lynxes"Manen Lynxes are mostly solitary, though some enjoy the company of other lynxes or even a fairly submissive cat. It is not recommended to introduce them to "tougher" domestic catz because they will fight for an alpha position. As long as the Manen Lynx is allowed to be the boss, they will usually be okay.
